Aquatics CoordinatorWe are actively recruiting for the following position(s):


The following positions are temporary appointments without benefits or tenure and you must be available to work May 23 - September 7, 2015.
We are looking for committed individuals willing to work approximately 25 - 30 hours per week at any of the following aquatic locations:
Hardie Pool (Cayucos), Shamel Pool (Cambria), Santa Margarita Lake Pool, Templeton Pool, San Miguel Pool, C.W. Clarke (Shandon) Pool
Lopez Lake  Recreation Area and Cayucos Beach.
Prior to being hired, all successful candidates must pass a background check, fingerprinting, and a pre-employment medical exam.

LIFEGUARD I/II (Pool & Lopez Lake): $9.77 - $14.32 DOE
Required certifications: Lifeguarding, Title22 and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or be currently enrolled in a Lifeguard Training Course.
In addition Swim Instructors are required to be American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certified.

Lifeguard candidates possessing the most desirable qualifications will be contacted to participate in the pool testing process. 
Testing will consist of a 500 yard timed swim, written Lifeguard test, in-pool lifeguard rescue skills, and interview.


LIFEGUARD II (Cayucos Beach Lifeguards): $11.78 - $14.32 DOE
Required certifications: Lifeguarding, Title22 and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or be currently enrolled in a Lifeguard Training Course.
In addition applicants MUST possess a current United States Lifesaving Association (U.S.L.A.) certification or be enrolled in the U.S.L.A. Academy.
You are required to apply online BEFORE March 1 to be considered for the Academy and make sure you note on your.
application that you would like to test on March 15.

U.S.L.A. Academy applicants are required to participate in a testing process, which takes place on Sunday, March 15, 2015.
 Testing will first consist of a pass/fail USLA-standard timed swim of 500 meters that must be completed in 10 minutes or less.
A run-swim-run on the beach/ocean, and a test of the use of ocean rescue boards.  This will be followed by an oral interview. 
Morro Bay Harbor Patrol and San Luis Obispo County Parks will administer all testing and interviews. 
County Lifeguard applicants trying out for the Academy must be a minimum of 17 years of age by April 1.
Candidates under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Title 22 and CPR for the Professional Rescuer - March 27-29 (required certs for U.S.L.A. Academy compliance)
U.S.L.A. Academy - April 17-19 and April 24-26 (you must attend ALL days of the Academy)


Applicants MUST be available to work April - September 2015. A typical work week is approximately 30 - 35 hours during the season.
Required valid certications are: Lifeguarding, Title 22 and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications.
Highly desirable candidates will possess Instructor certifications for the above as well as WSI Trainer and Pool Operator certificate.

Aquatics coordinator tasks include the following: supervision and training of approximately 45 lifeguards, swim lesson and aquatic program planning,
staff scheduling, collection and reconiliation of revenue, report writing, supply ordering, community outreach via social media and website.
