Outdoor Discovery Festival is sure to have something for everyone! Let us show you what San Luis Obispo County Parks has to offer. If you like to run, hike, bike, camp, fish, bird watch, kayak, golf, and more.... this is the place to be! This year's event will include a Color Splash Fun Run for the whole family! There will be exhibits and demonstrations showcasing the many activities available in our County Parks as well as local sporting and eco-friendly vendors. Grab a bite to eat from one of many local food vendors while enjoying live music. The main event will take place at the Vista Lago Day Use Area. Some of the activities being offered are:

Enjoy a colorful run throughout the park with color splash excitement. Finish the run and get entered into a hourly drawing for a FREE ZIP at the Vista Lago Adventure Park!

BIKE TOUR (Free)
This is a great family activity that will be easy to moderate. Approximate tour time is 45 minutes. Limited to 15 participants per tour. Bikes and helmets are provided.

GUIDED HIKES (Free)
Learn about the different plants and animals that inhabit the region. This Ranger lead hike is a great hike for beginners and families. Approximate tour time is 45 minutes. Limited to 20 participants per hike.

|5K FAMILY COLOR FUN RUN - This year we're excited to add a 5K Family Color Fun Run as part of the DEER Challenge. This colorful run will take participants along the access road towards the back of Lopez Lake and then it will finish back at the Outdoor Discovey Festival. You run and we'll throw in some color splash! You MUST PRE-REGISTER by Thursday, May 7.
KIDS DEER CHALLENGE - Discovering the Environment through Education and Recreation (DEER) Program is designed to forge connections between nature and the youth of our community by promoting and facilitating environmental education and outdoor recreation. Participants will choose from 20+ activities that are sponsored by our exhibitors. Once the participant has completed the activities they will earn a prrize!
ADULT CHALLENGE - We have some fun and exciting challenges for adults too. How 'bout taking a quick jog thru the park in our Color Splash Fun Run? Everyone who completes the run will be entered into our hourly drawings for a FREE ZIP on the 700' zipline at Vista Lago Adventure Park. Try your geochaching skills! Choose from many activities designed for you to experience in the great outdoors!
ENTERTAINMENT - Grab some food, pull up a chair and relax with some live music provided by the following bands:
12noon - 2:00pm - Steppin' Out is the "Central Coast's finest dance band." They perform at a wide variety of events and have a loyal following known as "Steppers." Come to the Outdoor Discovery Festival to get your groove on. They will play anything from classic funk to rock 'n roll to whatever it takes to get you out on the dance floor. Ton's of enthusiasm, audience participation come with every performance.
DAMON CASTILLO BAND
2:30pm - 4:30pm - The band is loaded with master-musicians with diverse talent. Kristian Ducharme on keys, Jennings Jacobsen on drums, and Larry Kim on saxophone, and Damon’s amazing songwriting, vocals, and guitar playing belt out jazz, funk, rock, and soul. Their prowess comes through on every note, dynamically punctuating Damon’s soulful lyrics, at times mournful, and often larger than life.
