Volunteer Program

We know that behind SLO County Parks' successes lay the efforts of our volunteers and this volunteer participation is absolutely crucial to the strength of our organization. Volunteers help to form the foundation of community representation in our work. This connection plays an integral role when striving to provide a high quality experience for all park visitors. Our Volunteer Program also works closely with the Enviornmental Center of San Luis Obispo (ECOSLO) to provide volunteer workdays and special events at our park and golf courses. We have scheduled the third Saturday of each month as our official Volunteer Workday. Below is a large array of rewarding opportunities to volunteer through San Luis Obispo County Parks as well as our Volunteer Workday Calendar. How would you like to volunteer?

Adopt-A-Park - tailor tasks to suit your interests and goals. Adopt virtually any facility or feature at our parks including trails, beaches, landscaped areas, play areas, pools and many more!

Service Project - would you like to design and execute a landscape, trail or building project? We are always looking for volunteers to help beautify our parks and beaches.

Park Docent - assist with interpretive and educational programs, guided hikes, and demonstrations as well as act as a visitor/staff liason.

Park Host - be an integral part of our team at our regional parks or overnight camping facilities. Hosts are provided an RV site in exchange for assistance with visitor services, campsite maintenance and management.

Trail Workdays and/or Patrol - assist with flagging, brushing, building, sign making, and maintenance of County Parks' Trails.

Golf Course Marshall - help to keep our courses running smoothly or assist in small repairs and maintenance.

Kids Fishing Clinics - help teach kids all the special tricks of catching fish. Clinics are hosted at Lopez Lake and Santa Margarita Lake.

Dog Park Volunteers - we have several dog park organizations that could use your help in keeping our dog parks safe and clean for your fury "best friend." Come play and volunteer at Cayucos Dog Park, El Chorro Dog Park, Heilmann Dog Park or Vineyard Dog Park. Woof!

4th of July Clean-up - Templeton Park and Cayucos Beach need plenty of help after this annual celebration.
